Salesforce Zimlet from Zimbra

by rrao

Zimlet automatically checks if the current mail has any Salesforce information and displays them in a Bar.

Salesforce Bar Provides:

  • Salesforce Context (Contact, Lead, Cases, Account & Opportunities) information.
  • Provides links to quickly edit/view/clone various Salesforce Objects
  • Provides toolbar buttons to perform various operations like: Add Notes, Email2Case
  • Provides Salesforce Search capabilities.

Please Note:

  • You need to ask your Salesforce system admin to enable API for your account Setup | Profiles | Edit | Administrative Permissions | API enabled = checked

Release Notes:

Version 3.4: Has couple of bug fixes w/in Salesforce bar to make sure all the links for various objects (like: Case or Opportunity) properly point to respective objects in SFDC.

Version 3.2:

Salesforce has different API servers for production(https://www.salesforce.com/bla/bla), test(https://test.salesforce.com/bla/bla) etc. In this version we expose this field so that end users(both ZCS and ZD) can change and point to the preferred servers.

As a heavy SF.com user I find this saves a ton of effort keeping contacts in sync and keeping records of email sent, etc.

In the past I did lots of copy/paste from email to Salesforce - very time consuming.

This Zimlet allows me to sync, add notes, add contacts, and search from my Zimbra email...this is an awesome tool that saves time and makes it easier to use Zimbra and Salesforce together. Great job - thank you!

I am a power user of Zimbra & Salesforce this simplfies my life by being able to send an email from Zimbra and add it to SFDC. Also you can add an email later. You can create a lead or an account.

This Zimlet is a must have!!!!

So... you've installed the Salesforce.com zimlet and found that it errors out of the box...

Failed login attempts?

  • Did you use the security token? YES!
  • Stil having problems? Is your password more than 8 characters in length? YES?

Hmm, problem found. The total password string in the Salesforce zimlet can be no longer than 32 characters this is including the 24 characters of the security token.

Having even more problems with strange popups with this._appCtxt messages under details? Haven't quite figured this out myself. I was able to get rid of the error messages but I still don't have my Salesforce compose buttons in my webinterface.

To... at least... get rid of the error messages do the following:

  • Unzip the com_zim....sforce.zip file and open the sforce.js file in your favorite editor.
  • Search for the line: this._composerCtrl = this._appCtxt.getApp(ZmZimbraMail.MAIL_APP).getComposeController();
  • Change it to: this._composerCtrl = AjxDispatcher.run("GetComposeController");
  • Save the file and create an archive of the files.
  • Deploy again.

If you have any comments about how to make this work as designed, please tell me....

I know this is for reviews but it's pretty hard to search for any info about the sforce zimlet troubleshooting... So I hope I'm helping somebody somehow...

To work around the 32 characters limit edit the 'com_zimbra_sforce.xml' file in the zimlet zip file and change the following line:

    <property type="password" name="passwd" minLength="4" maxLength="32" label="Password" />

into....

    <property type="password" name="passwd" minLength="4" maxLength="40" label="Password" />

to allow 40 characters in the password field...

Version 3.1 fixes this issue. Please check it out
